DATA DESCRIPTION: These data are the average CO2 concentrations of air extracted from GISP2 ice from depths spanning two separate stadials (cold periods) centered at approximately 46 kyBP and 63 kyBP. Each measurement was made on 6-8 cm^3 of carefully trimmed ice using a dry extraction method. Three samples (typically) were analyzed for each point, the depths of which differed by no more than 2 cm. Analytical details can be found in Wahlen et al. (1991) and Smith et al. (JGR special GRIP/GISP2 issue). Four columns of data are listed; the first is the uppermost depth (in meters) of the samples used for each point, the second is the average CO2 concentration (in ppm) of the trapped gas, the third is the standard deviation (in ppm) of the average CO2 concentration and the fourth is the number of samples analyzed for each point.
