TITLE: GCN CIRCULAR
NUMBER: 35464
SUBJECT: GRB 240102B: Fermi GBM Final Real-time Localization
DATE: 24/01/02 22:30:23 GMT
FROM: Fermi GBM Team at MSFC/Fermi-GBM
The Fermi GBM team reports the detection of a likely LONG GRB
At 22:12:10 UT on 2 Jan 2024, the Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM) triggered and located GRB 240102B (trigger 725926335.090798 / 240102925).
The on-ground calculated location, using the Fermi GBM trigger data, is RA = 338.1, Dec = 46.5 (J2000 degrees, equivalent to J2000 22h 32m, 46d 30'), with a statistical uncertainty of 1.0 degrees.
The angle from the Fermi LAT boresight is 3.0 degrees.

SUBJECT: GRB 240102B (Fermi GBM trigger 725926335/240102925) is not a GRB
DATE: 24/01/03 01:42:19 GMT
FROM: Cori Fletcher at USRA
C. Fletcher (USRA) reports on behalf of the Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor Team:
"The Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM) trigger 725926335/240102925 at 22:12:10.09 UT
on 02 January 2024, tentatively classified as a GRB 240102B (GCN 35464), is in fact not due
to a GRB. This trigger is likely due to particle activity." |
