TITLE: GCN CIRCULAR
NUMBER: 35809
SUBJECT: GRB 240226B: Fermi GBM Final Real-time Localization
DATE: 24/02/26 21:41:00 GMT
FROM: Fermi GBM Team at MSFC/Fermi-GBM
The Fermi GBM team reports the detection of a likely LONG GRB
At 05:40:04 UT on 26 Feb 2024, the Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM) triggered and located GRB 240226B (trigger 730618809.579832 / 240226236).
The on-ground calculated location, using the Fermi GBM trigger data, is RA = 353.7, Dec = -24.4 (J2000 degrees, equivalent to J2000 23h 34m, -24d 23'), with a statistical uncertainty of 5.4 degrees.
The angle from the Fermi LAT boresight is 100.0 degrees.

TITLE: GCN CIRCULAR

SUBJECT: Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor trigger 730618809/240226236 is not a GRB
DATE: 24/02/27 00:17:45 GMT
FROM: Lorenzo Scotton at UAH
L. Scotton (UAH) reports on behalf of the Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor Team:
"The Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM) trigger 730618809/240226236 at 05:40:04.58 UT
on 26 February 2024 was initially classified as a GRB, and named GRB 240226B (GCN 35809).
This trigger is in fact not due to a GRB, but to a solar flare." |
