Massively Parallel Network Computing
PURPOSE: |
Joining the computing power of large intranets/internet to one massively
parallel network computer. All you have to do in order to join our virtual parallel computer is to set your browser
to the following link: |
|
REQUIREMENTS: | Any networked computer with Java-enabled web browser (JDK 1.1 and higher) is sufficient. However, the highest computing performance is experierenced with WIN32 (Symantec JIT-compiler) and with AIX (IBM JIT-compiler) machines.
DESCRIPTION: | Symphony is a virtual parallel network computer. Remote computers participating in the Symphony processing are coupled together simply by setting a local java-enabled web browser, or a local Java Virtual Machine (JVM), to one specific Uniform Reference Locator (URL). The range of computation tasks, which can be processed by Symphony includes Monte-Carlo computations, image rendering, simulation of stochastic processes and all sort of problem requiring no inter-process communication. A simple multitasking job scheduler, an algorithm for the efficient storage of results and online control facilities have been implemented.
